Successful Insurance Sales: Give What's Right, Not What's Left

When you first glance at the words "Give what's right, not what's left," most people would relate it to tithing. Of course you could! But you can also relate this to your personal life and also your insurance sales career.

Let's first look at your personal life. How would this wording relate to your personal life? If you work all the time and never spend time with your family, this would fit in. Also if you take your work home with you, whether it is verbally or physically, would it fit in? You should leave your work at the office and once you get home give your family the time and attention they deserve rather than the energy you have left. Wouldn't you agree?

I am the world's worst about this. I was so bad that I had the Internet disconnected from my house because I would get on the computer looking up different things and before I knew it, I would be on there at midnight. This also keeps you from getting a good nights rest.

Now let's look at your career. In the insurance business it is easy to not work eight hours per day. It's easy to make a sale, figure up how much you made on that sale and then go home for the rest of the day. But actually that is not giving your career what's right

Not having to punch a time clock is the hardest thing that I have ever done. It's easy to sleep late on rainy days, go home early when you are frustrated with your sales or even when you have had a great day. But if we really did what's right we would put in our hours.

Are you where you need to be in your career as far as income, appointments, activity, etc? Do you work by schedule or by the seat of your pants? Do you fret when your manager holds you accountable?

Let's all look at our personal life and our insurance careers starting today. Does there need to be an adjustment? Are your giving what's right instead of what's left? Only you can make the change.

Start today for your sake, your family's sake, and also your career's sake!
